The zoo was at the top of our wish list for outings this summer. We wanted to go last year but everyone was unemployed so we kind of stuck close to home. This year everyone has a job so we blew the door off the budget the very first day of vacation and went to Hogle Zoo.

The weather had been cool and rainy the previous week and it has been cold and rainy since, but our zoo day was nice and warm. Cooper got a map for us so that we could plan out the best route so everyone would be able to see their favorite animal. We also rode the carousel and the train.

Luckily, Alycia and the kids stayed here for a week so that they were able to come too. We have had so much fun together! I'm not sure what Kennedy is looking at, but she finds it very interesting! Probably the pooing monkey- that was the thing she remembered the most.

The baby elephant was very cute and was my favorite thing. He acted just like the big elephants- squirting muddy water and hay onto his back. Cooper doesn't like the loud squawking of the many birds. He is NOT a bird fan. (Remember Floppy the chicken?)

I had to take a picture of Jackson in his safari hat. He was determined to buy this hat and he looks just like his hero- Bear Grills. Good purchase, Jackson! We stayed at the zoo until we were too hot and too hungry to stay a minute longer. Then we found the buffet down town and had a great meal together. It was a very fun day and a great kick-off to summer vacation.
