We have been inundated with rain the past three weeks. It has kept us from doing some needed home projects, like our rock expedition, but it has made our little valley as lush and as green as it has ever been. Even our Thatcher hill is green and gorgeous.
Shane and Alycia are getting closer to putting in their yard. Randy and Shane have worked over the past year to haul in dirt and compost and to level and grade their yard as it settles and now it looks really good. They wanted some landscape boulders so we have been looking and pricing rocks from Preston down to Ogden. We found the best ones right here on our Thatcher hill, thanks to a gracious benefactor.
Sunday was the first day without rain so Randy drove the tractor up on the hill and we followed on 4-wheelers and in the pickup with the flatbed. All the easily accessible rocks had already been taken. Randy had to do a lot of clearing and maneuvering to get to rocks that were the right size and color.
The first one is on the trailer, but not without some heart-stopping moments. The tractor kept wanting to tip over from the weight of the rock. Shane and Kevin had to stand on the back to keep it down.
As they worked the black clouds started to gather and lower. The thunder got louder and closer as another afternoon storm rolled in. A quick little group picture before the rain hits.
There were eleven people squished into Kevin's truck as we waited out the thunder storm. We ended up with three pretty boulders- about all the truck and trailer could handle. I guess we'll make another trip when the weather settles down.

Wait... I don't see 11 people in this picture! Looks like fun!
That little bit of green under my chin is Kasen's head. Shaylyn is that black spot behind Kevin, and Randy and Kennedy are heard but not seen. Actually, we left Kennedy at home sleeping- but don't tell the authorities.
