Shelly started this Halloween get-together many years ago and it has grown to be a tradition that we look forward to or dread, depending upon your fondness for dressing up. Her remodel project is completed so she had the party at her house. You never know what you are in for when she is in charge, you had just better be a good sport and go along because it's going to be funny!

She had some games for the little kids to play. One of them involved the grandpas, Randy and Mike. They both get a head full of whipped cream. The little kids were divided into two teams. They had to throw cotton balls and try to get them to stick into the cream. Pa's hot head caused his cream to slide off, but not before his team was declared the winner!
The little kids also participated in a cake walk where everyone was a winner!
Shaylyn as Kevin and Kevin as Kevin.

Patti, Roy and Shandi. Patti had her last chemo treatment last week- a great reason to celebrate!

Some times I can push a more daring costume on Pa and sometimes I have to know when to settle for good enough. This year was a low-key costume year since he is still busy in the corn and not in the most cooperative mood.

Marci and Jason usually do a coordinated costume. Marci's costumes are always totally in character and perfect right down to the tiniest detail. Jason will go along with her as long as he doesn't have to be too outrageous. This year they were "Uncle Jed and Granny" from the Beverly Hillbillies.

This is Mike's first Halloween in the family. Kim was willing to be any crazy thing Shelly could think up. I wondered if Mike would embrace the spirit of the night and don a costume. Shelly told me a couple of weeks ago that she thought that she had a costume that he would be willing to wear. I was doubtful because she always comes up with wild, elaborate costumes with lots of makeup. But Mike was a good sport and was in character all night.

Lynn was a Nun. He wore Jamie's shoes and bra. He was actually quite proud of his shape and flaunted it just a bit. Jamie had a great costume. She was a friar. She even had a tonsured wig. Sweet little Maci was a strawberry.
Susan always come up with good costume for Jake and herself to wear. She is a very creative girl. This year they were Mario and Luigi. I think that they both looked really cute in the bibs!
Shelly had "Minute to Win It" type games for the big people to play. Four teams competed against each other doing crazy and hilarious things. It was a really fun party. Mikes family came at different times throughout the evening. They were good sports and were willing to make fools of themselves right along with us. It's our first party together as an extended family. It turned out to be a lot of fun. Mike is a great guy and his kids seem to fit in.
