I took the grandkids to have their picture taken in a nativity setting early in November. I started decorating the house as soon as I got it from the photographer and it set the tone for the Christmas season.
The relief society December party was a progressive program that started at my home. It's hard to decorate a small front porch, but I liked how it looked this year- especially at night with lights in the greenery and in the lamp.
We had a surprise trip to Tropic early in December to attend Grandma Jean's funeral. She was 93 years old when she passed away. She had planned her funeral down to the tiniest detail. It was comforting and special. The Syretts had reserved two nights for all of us at their Grand hotel across the road from the Inn. It was beautiful. We stayed the extra night just to take advantage of the accommodations. It was so good to be able to spend that time with Evan, Jed, Willis and some of their family members with no cooking or cleaning. We had some touching, worthwhile conversations, and we laughed a lot too!
Shane, Leash and the kids stopped in on Christmas Eve on their way to spend Christmas with the Boyers. The puppy was in the house so they got to meet him before Jackson did. They really liked him! It made me feel bad to have to keep the Ekins children away from our house that day, but we really wanted the puppy to be a surprise.
Dixon is growing up because for the first time his Mom didn't need to wake him up on Christmas morning. He called me at 5 a.m. to come watch them open presents. Kind of early after a late night of puppy sitting, but I wouldn't miss it for anything.
Later in the morning the kids came to our house to open presents. Jackson's last gift was a bag of dog food. He's kind of confused!
Then Pa told them to close their eyes and hold out their hands for a surprise-
and he put the puppy on Jackson's lap. Dixon said the he had heard the puppy crying last night while he was trying to go to sleep, so he wasn't surprised at all.
Love at first sight!
Family picture minus daddy- I think he was catching up on some sleep in the lazy boy.
Kasen is an expert on technical writing. He is crazy for the instructions that come with any toy, tool, DVD, appliance- anything. He calls them his "wuctions" and packs them around reading them all day. He becomes quite testy if he thinks that you are hiding some from him.

Grandma got a Wii. Shaylyn brought over her controllers so there was a controller for everyone-whether it was plugged in or not! Super Mario Brothers was a favorite.
Grandma also got some dance games. The kids had played them at Uncle Willis' before and liked them. Kasen and Kennedy are waiting for Michael Jackson to start dancing. The videos of them dancing are very funny. All the kids are great dancers. They must get it from Grandma!
